YINteroception ~ taking one's awareness inward to perceive sensation based alignment, determine whether it is appropriate, take effective action in making a change, or deciding to sit in stillness and witness the experience.
"YINteroception is a term I use to describe the overall effect that this practice has on the human form; the body, the mind, and the spirit. By experiencing sensations, and being guided to feel and perceive internally how the practice and forms are impacting them, the student is taken to a level of understanding and awareness of their needs, their tendencies, patterns, and habits. The greatest frustration of yoga students and teachers is in trying to achieve the perfect asana, often to the point of injury. We teach you that it is not about making the body fit the posture, it is about making the posture fit the body. You will have confidence in how to assess for the appropriate form for each individual student, as well as how to adapt the practice to meet the needs of their state of health physically, mentally and emotionally."
